Freelancing sites-If you’re looking to make a career shift this year, the first step to take is to find the right skill. So I am going to highlight some of the employment opportunities you may want to consider developing as a freelancer.
My previous blog post about the highest-paying freelance jobs outlines the categories for earning the highest income as a freelancer. The list below pertains to that list to suggest specific skills you should consider early on.
If you have read my book or followe my getting started guide, you will notice one of the first things I suggest for beginners is to find a marketable skill that has high need. For this list, I gathered data from two surveys (from the FlexJobs, Indeed, and UpWork websites) to identify the skills that have the highest demand.

Web development is among the hottest specialties of freelance work. Specifically, coding knowledge around Java SE and NodeJS along with other programming skills were at the top of the 15 most famous skills in UpWork in 2020. Java SE, in particular, was ranked at the top as a result of many corporations and businesses asking for interactive features on their websites.
It could be the ideal year to enhance your storytelling ability and improve your ability to look for opportunities on the market. Keep in mind, that the more demand for development is, the fiercer the rivalry is. You’ll have to compete with thousands of other web developers for job opportunities. Strive to be unique to stand out from the crowd.

2. Web App Development
In the wake of the pandemic, many companies changed their methods of operations so they could sell their products and services on the internet. One way to do this was to develop a website.
A lot of industries, such as restaurants, supermarkets, and pizza parlors, began providing e-commerce solutions so that their customers could order online and get their products delivered directly to their homes.
This is one of the reasons why the call for web application development rose in 2020 due to the ever-changing economy. Though app development will not disappear anytime soon, the demand for web apps will go up as we adapt to the new norm.
At the same time, apps operating on mobile phones reduce the cost of developing native iOS and Android applications for businesses. web computer programming is an evolving area, but there are still numerous viable things you can do with this skill set to assemble a career for yourself.

4. Project Management
Many businesses survived the economic recession by changing to remote work. Nonetheless, a few businesses were against making the transition permanent. This change allowed independent contractors to thrive as well.
Project managers are typically in charge of overseeing a team, assigning tasks, and ensuring projects flow appropriately. FlexJobs reported recently that project management is the fourth-favored skill this year. If you’re easily able to build rapport with people, this may be the perfect skill for you.
