Let’s say you wanted to promote a product that would enable you to save money on clothes. You could do so by first reading up on the keyword and looking at the ranking pins.
I like how most of the pins have a photo of clothes with caption text in big and bold letters, as this makes it easy to rank. I also liked noticing that some pins had no connection to saving money on clothing, which means you’ll have a better chance of ranking higher.

Pinterest Followers
Although Pinterest is technically a search engine, the more followers you have, the more people can see your pins.
The easiest way to get followers on Pinterest is by following their followers.
For example, if I wanted to search for fashion bloggers for my niche, I would type “fashion” and select the people option. Then, all I would have to do is click on any of the top profiles and click on followers.
Follow people in your niche, but don’t follow more than 50 in a day to avoid being flagged as spam.
It’s a good idea to only follow people with profile pictures since those accounts are usually more active on Pinterest. Once you reach 1,000 followers, this strategy is no longer necessary and you can start staying active by pinning things.
Pinterest Group Boards
I must say that Pinterest group boards aren’t as good as they used to be but they are still worth mentioning.
Fans of the platform had a lot of trust in the app until they noticed that the posts they were seeing in their feeds were coming more and more from businesses they followed with big budgets and less from smaller, lesser-known companies.
If you ever get invited to pin your pins on a group board managed by this account, they have 10,000 followers who will be receiving your pin.
In the very beginning, Pinterest was a great way to get lots of followers if you had a lot of friends and family on the site. However, with better algorithms and group boards not being as powerful anymore, this isn’t the case anymore.
But…
When you are just starting with Pinterest, joining group boards is the best way to get your pins notice. Pin Groupie might be a good place to find these groups. It lists all current group boards and makes it easy for new members to contact them.
The Pingroupie site lets you enter a keyword like “shoes” and then shows you all the group boards for that topic.
Now go through these listings one by one and reach out to the board owner asking for an ‘invite’. Don’t forget to add a persuasive text preview at the beginning.
This might be a time-consuming job, so be prepared!
If you want to find group boards, there are a few different ways you can do it. The first step would be to look at the group boards your competitors are on and see if you can add yours. After that, another good way is simply browsing posts from the community.
